The star has given the entirety of his £25k honor prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the United Kingdom's small live music spots.

He was presented with the prize on mid-October as his latest record the album was chosen as the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

Fender has chosen to give the cash to the trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part small stages had in his initial steps.

"I wouldn't be doing my current career if it hadn't been for all the shows I did around the region, and further afield, when I was starting out," stated Fender. "These locations are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – approximately 16 percent of the total UK scene.

Over the past year, top acts such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which goes to help local stages.

Sam Fender also participated, generating more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds helped venues that were dealing with potential shutdown due to issues stemming from flooding, blazes and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, court cases and noise complaints.

Additional spaces received funding support in improving facilities and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and audiences.

"The concept that funds from concerts in major spaces backs the local stages, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has commented.

The musician is not the first artist to give his award funds to charitable organizations.

Back when Pulp received the trophy in the year 1996 for their album their work, vocalist the singer announced that the band would give their prize money to the non-profit the charity.

During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her award across several good causes, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also donated a grand to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they required better apparatus," the artist told a publication.

In recent years, the band gave their prize money to the community center that nurtured their band, alongside other independent music bodies.

And the 1994 recipients the group donated their winnings to a MS organization after a friend was diagnosed the disease.

"The victory was sufficient," stated artist Small. "The prize was the cherry on top but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our success touched the lives of others."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust announced it had rescued several small stages in the South East, by transferring them to community ownership.

The first in Southampton and the second in Bristol were bought under the public acquisition scheme, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the buildings.
